In the BCaT Bookclub, we will be learning about Black Homeplaces, centering Black placemaking practices across the diaspora as modes of resistance, celebration, play, and containers of Black archives. We will engage a variety of mediums, including articles and chapters, art exhibitions, and watching and discussing films and documentaries in the lab.
BCaT Bookclub will take place regularly on Wednesday 12-1 PM. Bring your lunch and join us in the lab (Skinner 3115) or on Zoom!
Please keep an eye on the BCaT Lab’s Black Homeplace Project page for information about what we will be discussing that week.
In our final book club of the semester we will be exploring the virtual reality experience “Obsidian”, created by the Black Artists and Designers Guild in 2021. Obsidian is an interactive web story, exploring a digitally recreated home from Oakland Hills, California.
